Shaving Bumps

Many men suffer from in-growing hairs in their shaving area, particularly those with dark skin. These in-growing hairs are also known as shaving bumps and can be a painful blight to the sufferer during their regular shaving routine. Now there's a solution with the new revolutionary technique offered at Wimbledon Aesthetics.

What is it and how does it work?

A laser beam is passed through the skin to reach the hair follicles. The heat energy destroys these follicles eliminating growth and dissolving the hair under the skin.

Does it hurt?

There may be a slight burning sensation but this is kept to a minimum by preparing the skin prior to treatment with topical anaesthetic creams.

Are there any side effects?

There may be some reddening around the hair shaft immediately following the laser application. On occasion this reaction is absent or minimal.

How long does the treatment take?

Depending on the area(s) to be treated, each session may take up to an hour.

How long will the effects of the treatment last?

Multiple treatments will be required at 4 to 6 week intervals as hair grows in cycles. The overall outcome will depend on the initial severity of the shaving bumps but you will be advised on the potential outcome at your initial consultation.

What aftercare will I need?

The area(s) treated must not be exposed to sun or any heat treatments for at least two days after treatment.
