Mesotherapy

What is it and how does it work?

Mesotherapy is a medical technique devised in the 1950s and was first used to treat such conditions as rheumatism, sports injuries, and for the improvement of blood circulation. It has now been used successfully by some Practitioners for the treatment of cosmetic conditions, including skin rejuvenation and improvement, hair regrowth, localised fat reduction and as a treatment for cellulite.

Mesotherapy involves multiple injections using a very fine needle of a specially prepared mixture of vitamins, amino acids, and medications, placed immediately beneath the surface of the skin into the problematic area/s. Just a "drop" of solution is used at each injection site.

Does it hurt?

We prepare the skin by using topical anaesthetic creams prior to treatment. We use very fine needles and a cold compress is then applied to the treated area/s to keep any discomfort to a minimum.

Are there any side effects?

Possible side-effects are small bruises which vanish in a few days, and a little swelling in the injected area which remains for about 12 - 36 hours.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment takes approximately 20 minutes depending on the area(s) to be treated.

How long will the effects of the treatment last?

It is recommended to have a course of 6 treatments at intervals of one week. For maximum results, a course of Mesotherapy can be combined with Velasmooth treatments. It is recommended to have a maintenance 'top-up' treatment once a month after completion of your course but you will be advised on the potential outcome at your initial consultation.

What aftercare will I need?

After the treatment, you can return to normal activities.
